約克聖約翰大學位於英格蘭北部著名的古城-約克市，當地已有200餘年的歷史，至今仍保存許多羅馬時期的古典建築、街道，是許多觀光客到英國必造訪的城市之一。現今主要以發展商業、觀光為主，擁有許多傳統手工藝品商店、劇院、博物館，鄰近附近的大城市包括曼徹斯特、里茲，至倫敦約2小時火車車程。
